What's Not Included
- Installation labor. Arranged separately through a licensed local installer — cost varies by home, roof, and region. See How Installation Works for the full process.
- Permitting and inspection fees, set by your local jurisdiction and typically handled by your installer as part of their quote.
- Any required electrical panel upgrade, if your installer identifies one is needed.
We separate these on purpose — it's the reason our hardware price is honest instead of padded with a bundled labor markup you can't see.
How the Price Compares
A comparable system — panels, inverter, and battery — installed through a traditional national or regional solar company commonly runs $45,000–$65,000, with hardware and labor bundled into a single number you can't break down. Charging Solar's transparent hardware price, plus a separately quoted local installation, is typically a significant savings over that bundled model — while still using components built to the same standard used in commercial and fleet EV infrastructure.

Federal Solar Tax Credit — What's Actually Available in 2026
We'd rather give you the accurate, current picture than repeat outdated claims you may have seen elsewhere.
Residential: The 30% federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) expired December 31, 2025, with no phase-down or transition period. Homeowners purchasing a system in 2026 — cash or financed — do not currently qualify for a federal tax credit. Some state-level incentives may still apply; see your US state or Canadian province page for details.
Commercial: still 30%, but on a real deadline. The federal Commercial Investment Tax Credit (Section 48E) remains available at 30% for business-owned solar systems — but the rules changed in a way that makes timing matter right now:
- Projects that began construction on or before July 4, 2026 lock in the full 30% credit with a safe-harbor deadline of December 31, 2030.
- Projects starting construction after July 4, 2026 — which includes any commercial order placed today — must be fully installed and placed in service by December 31, 2027 to claim the Section 48E Clean Electricity Investment Tax Credit. There is no partial credit for missing that date.
- The battery storage portion of the system is on a separate, longer-running phase-down schedule and isn't tied to the same 2027 cutoff.
What this means practically: given typical production, shipping, and installation timelines, commercial customers who want to claim the 30% credit have a real, finite window to order, receive, and complete installation before the end of 2027 — not a marketing deadline, a statutory one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this price really all-in for the hardware? Yes. The price you see is the complete system, shipped to your door — panels, inverter, battery, cabling, connectors, and mounting hardware. The only cost not included is your local installer's labor.
Why isn't installation included? Because bundling it lets companies hide their real markup. We'd rather you see the hardware price clearly and get a separate, competitive quote for labor from a licensed local installer — your choice, not ours.
Can I finance through Shop Pay if I'm outside the U.S. or Canada? Not currently — Shop Pay Installments is available to U.S. and Canadian customers only.
Is financing guaranteed? No. Approval, terms, and any required down payment are determined by Affirm based on your application. We can't guarantee approval or a specific rate.
How long does the holiday price last? Through 12/31/2026. After that, pricing returns to $24,995 list.
Is there a deposit option instead of paying the full amount upfront? A 50% deposit is possible. The remaining 50% balance is due when the system is completed and ready for delivery.
